Ghorepani Poon Hill Trek is more than just a trekking experience. It is all about realizing the absolute beauty of Nepal, exploring the culture of Nepal and trekking in the lap of nature. Poonhill Trek is consequently considered by many seasoned trekkers to be a classic trek hence with good reason because it’s just the best short trek in Nepal.

Ghorepani is a small village located in Myagdi district of Nepal likewise lying in the lower part of Annapurna Region. This trek almost lies within the Annapurna Conservation Area. And Poon Hill is the hill top of Ghorepani Village. From PoonHill, you can witness breathtaking views of morning sun striking white moutains to turn them golden.

Poon Hill Trek Route

Ghorepani Poonhill Trek route starts from Kathmandu. From Kathmandu, we drive to Pokhara on bus. It takes about 6-7 hrs to reach Pokhara on bus from Kathmandu. On the same day, we will stay in Pokhara and make short sightseeing. On next day, we go to Nayapul from our hotel on vehicle which takes about half an hour. We begin our trek from Nayapul to Ulleri. On the way, you will be enchanted with beautiful mountain views. From Ulleri, we trek to Ghorepani (which takes about 5-6 hrs). On the way, we can see mountains. If you are lucky, you will get chance to see wild animals also. We will stay in Ghorepani on same day. On Ghorepani you can explore the Gurung Culture and People’s lifestyle. Early in the morning, we climb up to Poon Hill to see sunrise which takes about 45 minutes. Then, we come back to Ghorepani and move to Tadapani to Jhinu Danda to enjoy natural hot spring. Finally ,we will come back to Kathmandu on the same route. Foods and Accommodation are arranged on time during your trek.

Best season and time for Poon Hill Trek

Oftentimes, you find your self above the clouds looking up at the snow-capped peaks of Annapurna and Dhaulagiri. For many, this becomes a moment of self-realization that we are so small in the scheme of things. The best time of the year for Ghorepani Poon Hill Trek are March – April and October. However, you can trek to Poon-Hill in any time of the year.

Since this region is considered to the land of great Gurkha soldiers Gurung and Magar and certainly they are the native people of this area. You can get chance to explore Gurung Community traditions and cultures.

At the end of day 5, you will stay at Ghorepani and rise early the next morning to walk up to Poon Hill in time to see the sunrise. Probably, It will become a lifelong memory that you will treasure for life from this voyage.
